Dr. Robbie Goldstein denounces Idaho ban on transgender students from participating in athletics.

On Monday, Idaho Governor Brad Little signed into law the Fairness in Women's Sports Act, which will prevent transgender girls and women from playing on girls' and women's high school sports teams. Idaho is the first state in the country to pass this type of legislation preventing transgender students from participating in school sports.
“Banning transgender girls and women from participating in school sports is cruel,” Goldstein said. “Trans students, just like all students, deserve a school free from discrimination and full of opportunity.”
Goldstein, who is challenging U.S. Rep. Stephen Lynch in the Democratic primary, founded and serves as the medical director of the Transgender Health Program at Massachusetts General Hospital. The program provides high-quality, personalized care to the transgender and non-binary communities in and around Boston, and partners with community leaders and advocates.
“Shame on Governor Little and the Idaho Legislature for wasting valuable time on a discriminatory law during a national emergency,” Goldstein said. “Their actions show their true intentions: to attack those most vulnerable. Rather than discriminating against transgender, non-binary and gender-noncomforming people, our priority must be to address the stigma, violence and discrimination that these communities already face, and pass legislation that affirms the identity, rights and dignity of all.”
